Bush pepper, a naturaly local variety of pepper found in cocoa farms in the villages in Cameroon especially in the south west region of the country. Non timber forest products are crucial to improve livelihood and cash income of the farmers, and can only be found in agroforest systems.
What Cameroonians call bush pepper is globally known as black pepper. Black pepper is one of the most commonly used spices worldwide. It’s made by grinding dried berries from the vine Piper nigrum. The difference between bush pepper and black pepper is that bush pepper is unprocessed black pepper. It has a sharp and mildly spicy flavor that goes well with many dishes. Black pepper also has great health benefits. It is commonly used as a cooking spice in many delicacies such as Ekwang,beans and many others due to its charming flavors and high health importance such as allivating constipation and aids in digestiong.
